Following a side extension and partial internal refurbishment, the homeowners of a country property in Oxfordshire wanted to transform their home into a fully integrated smart home. Their goal was to simplify control of lighting, audio, security, and access systems while future-proofing the property with modern technology—all without compromising its traditional character. Our Smart Home Integration Project made sure that all these boxes were ticked!
Seamless Integration worked closely with the homeowners to design a system that balanced cutting-edge technology with the property’s classic aesthetics. A key challenge was integrating modern smart home solutions without disrupting the period features of the home, from ornate ceilings to traditional finishes. Every decision—from placement of touchscreens to cable management—was made to ensure the technology blended seamlessly with the home’s character.
The existing Rako lighting system was upgraded to the latest models, providing app-based control and integration with Control4. This enabled personalised lighting scenes throughout the property while maintaining discreet and sympathetic hardware.
A Control4 system was implemented as the central hub, unifying control of all smart systems. Multi-room audio was installed across six zones, delivering high-quality sound throughout the home, all easily managed via strategically placed touchscreens designed to complement the period interiors.
The property’s media room was upgraded with a new 65″ TV, while keeping the existing 5.1 surround sound system. This ensured the homeowners could enjoy a high-quality cinematic experience without replacing their trusted audio setup.
The property’s outdated analogue gate intercoms were replaced with modern 2N units. These were integrated into the Control4 system so residents could view and grant access directly from the touchscreens.
To support the increased number of smart devices, the home’s Wi-Fi network was upgraded, ensuring reliable connectivity across the property. A new CCTV system was also installed, providing enhanced security and remote monitoring capabilities without impacting the home’s
Our Smart Home Integration Project successfully delivered a fully integrated, future-proof smart home while preserving the period character of the property. The homeowners can now control lighting, audio, security, and access with ease. We left them to enjoy a high-quality media room experience, and benefit from modern technology in a home that retains its traditional charm.
